lyrics

Past the man carrying a leek wearing sandals
past the alcoholics huddled in groups
all strange postures and crooked bodies
gripping the cans so tight they’ve become dimpled
past the serious looking man shovelling pic ’n’ mix into his mouth
past the man holding his phone out
to take a picture of his own head
from about 12 minutely differently angles
past the woman with loud buckles on
her shoes that clank and jingle as she walks
past the woman selling eggs where I stop
to buy some
and finally into the second hand store selling crockery
where I contemplate two egg cups but instead
leave with one mug after listening to the extremely
well tanned Norwegian man tell me about the time
his son went to Manchester where he claimed the girls were ‘crazy’.
I’m not sure what he means by that but I think I know.
